In the early eighties a duo was formed by
Johan and Jonas, sometimes calling themselves
"We Don't Want Cancer". Sometimes the group
was augmented with jazz doublebassplayer
Stefan, but this was not the sound they where
looking for. But then Stefan dropped the
acoustic bass for an old Fender electric and
everybody got very happy.
Not long after this it was discovered that the
compositions of saxaphone giant John Coltrane
fitted the band perfectly and this resulted in
the CD "Coltrane King". It was a big success,
was nominated for a Grammy in Sweden and made
the Jack Brothers famous all over the world.
The summer of -95 saw the Jack Brothers take
to the stage in a somewhat different way:
Johan was playing the leading role in
Shakespeares "Macbeth", while Jonas and Stefan
was making the music. The whole event was a
fantastic success!
In -98 the Jack Brothers locked themselves up
in a studio for more than six months straight,
together with famous producer Nille Perned
(who has worked with Kent, Wannadies, Bob Hund
to name a few). This resulted in the CD "Viva
la revolucion" released in -99.
On the last night of the old millenium the
Jack Brothers, augmented with three
percussionists, performed for a crowd of over
30.000 people on the Gotaplatsen in
Gothenburg, with a soundsystem covering half
the Avenue. You could hear us halfway to
Vinga!
In 2001 the Jack Brothers launched their
megaproject "one full length CD a month
during one year according to the french
revolutionary calendar". It was a lot of hard
work, but we made it and had plenty of good
time doing it! We believe this to be a world
record.
Following the 12CD/one year project we played
all of the mayor festivals in Sweden and also
went to America to play CBGB in New York and a
gig in Austin, Texas.
