Release Notes:
The Violet May have announced details of their new single æTVÆ. The
Sheffield-based quintet is to be released on May 30th via Oh! Inverted
World Records and is the lead track taken from their debut self-titled
EP. The group have recently received plaudits from new music guru Steve
Lamacq after being hailed as one of his æfavourite new bandsÆ.
With the nations current obsession over reality TV programmes producing
æTV starsÆ desperate for a taste of fame for fameÆs sake, æTVÆ is the
perfect response with a combination of everything from hugely distorted
bass lines to the dark, mysterious and ever-prowling lead vocals
provided by one fifth of the group Chris McClure.
With Steve Lamacq already a big fan of the Sheffield five-piece, more
and more well recognised supporters are forever adding their names to
the support list. Radio 1 pair Huw Stephens and Rob Da Bank are just
two of many, which also include the likes of Eddy Temple Morris and
John Kennedy from XFM.
Having been brought together through similar opinions of a rather
dead-in-the-water British guitar music scene, the group decided enough
was enough and chose to move forward in a bid to rectify what they had
down as a major dissatisfaction regarding how they viewed the lack of
guitar-ridden, bass-washed alternative rock music.
From the word go, their debut single outlined that The Violet May meant
business. Throwing you into the deep end filled with guitar-heaven and
an alluring vocal, æBright or BetterÆ set the ball rolling for what has
become a bright future and a big expectation to live up to for the
quintet.
