│ │
│ Second time around for this rare Push Button Objects record on │
│ Chocolate Industries. Release number 003 for the label, the │
│ original was pressed on grey vinyl while this new version comes │
│ in standard black. These 3 tracks show PBO in his earlier IDM │
│ stages, where the hip-hop influence can only be heard faintly in │
│ some of the drum kits. One of a kind percussion patterns mark │
│ tracks like "Non Existant," "Downtown," and "Babushka." Not to │
│ take away anything from PBO, but the Gescom (Autechre) cut │
│ tucked away on the inside of B, steals the proverbial show. │
│ Apparently a staple track of Kid Koala's live sets, "Gescom │
│ Remix" opens up with a nasty electronic break and some chopped │
│ up vocal niceness. It's as funky as this genre gets. │
│ │

│ │
│ │
│ Yeah, the Gescom mix definately steals the show. You may have │
│ heard it on the Rapid Transit comp back in 2000 (along with │
│ other great glitch hop artists like p73, while and ko-wreck │
│ technique). RT seems to have started a lot of people onto the │
│ glitch path, as well it should have - Go get it, now. │
│ │
│ Ok, now that you have RT, you might have noticed that the Gescom │
│ mix on this EP sounds a bit... dirtier (?) than on RT. I really │
│ can't explain why, but it does. But hey, since you have RT, who │
│ cares, right? I've listened to both the original press and │
│ (obviously) the reissue, and I can say with certainty that the │
│ problem is NOT with my recording. │
│ │
│ I'd just like to thank Choc.Ind for reissuing this one, I was │
│ suicidal about spending my pension for the original on eBay. │
│ │
│ This is dedicated to Eric 'Lonely Man' San, may you play a show │
│ here sometime in the near future. │
│ │
│ I have a feeling this has been released, but it's not in the │
│ database, so ha ha ha ha fuckers. And yeah, reissue, 2003, │
│ if you care that much, you can change the dir name, ok? │
