│ Prior to that misunderstood UNKLE album, James Lavelle seemed │
│ far happier running his record label. Pure of vision and │
│ pioneering in spirit, Mo'Wax single-handedly enticed crafty, │
│ instrumental hip-hop out of the bedroom and on to the coffee │
│ table, accidentally inventing trip-hop, but with such lovely │
│ packaging. │
│ Remixed by Brighton's Psychonauts, 'Time Machine' is a crude │
│ distillation of Mo'Wax's first six years; and from the │
│ articulate breakbeat science of genre-defining DJs Krush and │
│ Shadow to the sleazy prurience of LA oddballs Sukia and the │
│ wine-bar waxings of Attica Blues, it's been an interesting, if │
│ only occasionally excellent, progression. The Psychonauts' brief │
│ was to tastefully cram as many Mo'Wax records as possible into │
│ 37 minutes - they manage nearly 50. They've created a whole new │
│ track from their labelmates' tunes. In a matter of seconds we │
│ dart through barely recognisable snippets by La Funk Mob, Andrea │
│ Parker and RPM. │
│ But the intricate, dancefloor-friendly nature of the 'Nauts │
│ turntable trickery means that the end result sounds like a very │
│ long, though often funky, drum solo. Which for the pedantic │
│ trainspotter is marvellous news. Everyone else will get itchy │
│ feet. │

│ If you neeed more reason to believe that the NME are full of │
│ tossers who know fuck all about music, then there it is. │
│ This mix is awesome, thats the real truth. │

│ end of each 2 or 3 tracks - i did it as neat as I could ;) │
