Sumptuous new sounds from Tropics aka Chris Ward, backed
with Falty DL and Keep Shelly In Athens remixes. Since
releasing his debut on Planet Mu last year, Chris has
expanded Tropics to a full band, and the their new sound
is considerable more full bodied. With 'Mouves' his
signature breezy melodies and shoegazy vocals are now
supported with deft drumming and fluid, Hooky-esque bass
to lavishly woozy effect, and while the smudged
slow-motion Balearic magic of 'Celebrate' is decidedly
more electronic, it has the quality of a much bigger
studio pop production, aptly compared by the label to "àan
eraly, utterly joyful Madonna track". The remixes are
faithfully lush, with the hotly tipped Keep Shelly In
Athens embellishing the shoegaze intent of 'Mouves', and
Falty DL taking it to subtly humid dancefloor pastures.
