| | An overlooked gem here, the final release on | |
| | O2 Records (home of the classic "Hypnosis" by | |
| | Psychotropic). The track is called "Set Me | |
| | Free" by an artist calling themself 'Citizen | |
| | Caned', but presumably no relation to the | |
| | recent pop-trance group of the same name. | |
| | The A-side version is excellent, starting off | |
| | simply enough with a kickdrum, handclaps, and | |
| | hi-hats, before bringing in the bouncy | |
| | bassline and breaks... all sounding a bit | |
| | average to be honest, but when the piano and | |
| | strings breakdown comes in, with the bird | |
| | singing "Set me free, set me free oooooh", it | |
| | makes it sublime... anthemic even. The | |
| | flipside is more of the same, but stripped | |
| | down to just the basics. Check the extended | |
| | intro, making it a great tune to start off a | |
| | set with. Recommended. | |
