chicagoÆs guidance recordings have built their 'hi-fidelity dub
sessions' series into a reliable source of good down-tempo music.
this latest volume is no different with 12 tracks of quality
electronic dub, well selected and sequenced; it is the sort of
album that saves you money and time. a lovely slice of traditional
dub begins the album - butch cassidyÆs classic 'brothers &
sisters' would be welcome on any compilation. modern dub masters
thievery corporation are represented with 'the richest man in
babylon', the title track from their last album and a typically
slick slice of eastern influenced mysticism.
uk group western roots manage to sound authentically rocksteady on
'bogus buddy', which was only released this year by high noon
     records, while elsewhere shantel remixes
binder & krieglsteinÆs 'wir wissen nicht' adding harpsichord and
effects in a highly effective edit. other highlights include the
abstract two step number 'my sound', from g-stone artist stereotyp
and hot reggae singer tikiman, and new zealandÆs own
representatives - sola rosa, whose 'sleepwalker' is a lush
soundscape that really manages to sound like a dream, taking you
on its own pleasant little journey through sound, and inspector
ital (aka nelson-based peter hill). those familiar with this
series will be pleased to see the consistency of previous volumes
continued and anyone searching for stress relief without having to
lower themselves to cafΘ del mar style wallpaper music should have
     a ball. recommended.
