▓ Callers, a hip Chicano combo with an equal talent for ▓
▓ handling Soul, Latin, Sixties Rock and Funk! this set ▓
▓ was recorded live at the Plush Bunny Club. It ▓
▓ features a great range of excellent numbers, ▓
▓ including the group's famous reading of "Hector", ▓
▓ known by many for its great break on the intro, which ▓
▓ the Beastie Boys and Cypress Hill sampled. the album ▓
▓ also includes a very good taste selection of covers, ▓
▓ from Ray Charles "I Don't need No Doctor" to a superb ▓
▓ medley of Aretha Franklin's funkiest numbers. The ▓
▓ Village Callers were a very popular band in East L.A. ▓
▓ round 1968, more significantly, it is widely known ▓
▓ that they recorded a version of Evil Ways before ▓
▓ Santana had done it. This is the original version. ▓
▓ It was just reissued on CD and LP with extra tracks ▓
▓ in 2003. ▓
