Nuyorican house meets broken beatz meets apres-surf vibes...
After our one year baby-induced hiatus (thank you, little Toni is
alive and well), SPECTRUM WORKS is back with a vengeance. The success
of our compilation "FOLKY - acoustic music in digital times", the
first to round up the new acoustic phenomenon in the world of digital
produced dance music, lead us to the logical progression to compile a
second volume, widening the horizons of hungry music lovers. As with
the first volume, the follow-up will be accompanied by a 12"
featuring remixes by our in-house magicians KABUKI and MARCUS
WORGULL. Most notably you will encounter the original version of the
beautiful "Verte Valle" by OTTO LAMANI, an apres-surf vibraphon
soother that recalls impressions of Brian Wilson chilling on the
beach of Ipanema. Robert Nacken's Otto Lamani Connection really lets
their hair down on this one, which will be exclusive to this 12".
Backed by a tearing broken techno remix by Kabuki, which combines
detroit sensibilities with a deep understanding of jazz arrangements,
"Verte Valle's" 60's Beach Boys instrumental aesthetics are
translated onto the dancefloors of '02 making it a winner across open
minded clubs worldwide. Marcus Worgull twists the original in a
nuyorican style, building tension slowly and avoiding the all too
obvious cliche's of house productions with a latin/brasilian vibe.
Spectrum Works is proud to release this genre-defying 12" making the
spectrum of Spectrum Works more visible than ever: simply good music
across all categorisations. For the first time, we really feel that
we closed the circle of our own intentions in releasing quality
music.
