Polyminor are an alternative world music band! That's right- it's a hot new
genre.
Otherwise more plainly described as an original acoustic band, who perform
mostly instrumental songs. Sometimes Matt sings. They formed in the Sydney by
Matt, who wanted to perform the kind of music he enjoyed listening to but very
few bands were playing, also the idea of classical guitar being performed in a
non-classical environment.
Susannah Clark came on board in 2008, using her violin to make beautiful
melodies.
Soon after that Mike Rix joined Polyminor, he helps round out their sound sound
with his double-bass.
Their musical style is folk- but they mix in many styles within the genre,
including: classical, soundtrack, minimal, middle-eastern, celtic and gypsy.
Polyminor bring fresh ideas to Sydney's live music scene, by having a naturally
unique line-up and using improvisation during their live-shows.
If the genre 'alternative world music' sounds daunting, just think of Polyminor
as your regular Baroque Pop band, and go see them live.
