the material for this mort aux vaches broadcast on the dutch vpro
radio station was recorded during three live performances (in
tokyo, berlin and london) by an amazing lists of 20 noise artists,
among whom one may find masami akita and reiko a. (both of
merzbow), mayuko hino (of cccc), akifumi nakajima (of aube), k.k.
null and plenty of other, under the direction of z. karkoswki and
e. van der heide. the material from this concert has been then
re-arranged and put together to form this 50 minutes track.
what could one expect from this all starts orchestra of noise
musicians but a accumulation of harsh noise, grunting saturation
and neverending freakiness? even though this recording can be more
or less divided into different sections, the main part of it is a
huge and long sonic attack that features almost everything that
can be used t cursh your ears: statics, screams, very high and
very low frequencies. no beats are used, though, and we stay in
the area of pure, atonal and arhythmic walls of noises.
it's really hard to describe this cd for people who don't listen
to noise. the other might get a more precise idea if i say that
this track is very dense and intense, with a lot of various
layers. it doesn't have a lot of aggressivity but stays dynamic
all the way to the end. almost no silence is to be heard here, but
the music just gets more and more encompassing as it progresses
and evolves.
it doesn't get more obscure than this, though, and it might not be
a good pick for beginners. but considering who has been involved
in this recording and its absolute density, this is really an
excellent choice for people into noise. a very satisfying record
as long as you ears have been previously re-educated.
