Very eclectic mix (as ever) from the French duo.
Ever since the launch of their now seminal classic album Moon Safari
in 1998, Air have traveled in a long arching orbit above the musical
universe, occasionally stopping off on a neighboring planet to observe
the earth from a critical distance.
In 2000, like a snake shedding its skin, the two 30-year old Parisians
chose to follow the success of Moon Safari with a different kind of
musical adventure, scoring the music for Sofia Coppola's breakthrough
movie The Virgin Suicides and forever setting in motion their composer's
instinct to evolve beyond the charming mood pieces that had brought them
to the world's attention.
Now, two years after the 'dark side of the Moon Safari' that was
10,000 Hz. Legend, Air return to earth with a spine-tingling collection
of cinematic pop songs entitled Talkie Walkie, a reference to Dunckel and
Godin's unspoken communication during the recording process.
