│║ Tornado might not be the most original of band ║ │
│║ names but when it comes to the line-up of this ║ │
│║ band it is special. The band was formed by ║ │
│║ American Joey Severance who resides in Amsterdam ║ │
│║ and who makes a living as a tour manager on ║ │
│║ various European tours. Together with Michiel ║ │
│║ Rutten, who also lives in Amsterdam and who you ║ │
│║ might know from the band Fuelblooded, they got ║ │
│║ the idea to form a thrash band. Due to the ║ │
│║ relationship Joey built up with members of the ║ │
│║ Finnish band Amoral they asked them to join. ║ │
│║ Perhaps not the easiest option but apparently it ║ │
│║ works. They got a deal with Listenable and their ║ │
│║ debut was recorded in Sweden with Peter ║ │
│║ TΣgtgren. Not a bad start IÆd say. Knowing ║ │
│║ JoeyÆs love for thrash metal as well as glam ║ │
│║ acts like M÷tley Crⁿe in a lot of reviews it is ║ │
│║ suggested that æAmsterdamn, HellsinkiÆ is a mix ║ │
│║ of those genres. I wonder whether these ║ │
│║ reviewers actually listened to the album. To me ║ │
│║ this sounds like sharp thrash that is to the ║ │
│║ point and contains numerous melodies and vicious ║ │
│║ riffs. Due to the clean vocals that remind a bit ║ │
│║ of Mike Muir I hear reminiscence to Suicidal ║ │
│║ Tendencies too, both vocally as well as ║ │
│║ musically. The lyrics seem to be a mix of ║ │
│║ serious and funny subjects. Although this CD ║ │
│║ sounds kind of fresh in 2011 I canÆt say itÆs ║ │
│║ really original. ItÆs just a cool album to ║ │
│║ listen to. ║ │
