Rising from the ashes of the cult-classic Industrial/Metal hybrid
known as MiLLENNiA, [null factor] takes a more refined approach to
electronic Industrial. Without a trace of guitar-driven rock, or
other genre-bending elements, [null factor] focuses on serving pure,
untainted electronic-industrial... the way it was meant to be.
Mixing dark, futuristic soundscapes with harsh, distorted vocals,
[null factor] takes the art form forged by legends such as Front
Line Assembly, Skinny Puppy, and Nitzer Ebb and adds a fresh sound
that will satisfy both purists and newbies to the genre.
Dan Harvell (aka rUINED) started writing Industrial music in 1992
under the name 5000. Music written under the 5000 name never saw the
light of day and the project was short lived. While in college,
Harvell met a few fellow Industrial music lovers who later became
the musicians who, together, formed MiLLENNiA. MiLLENNiA fused the
electronics written by Harvell with heavy guitar riffs and furious
drum rhythms. In 1996, MiLLENNiA released an EP named "NULL". "NULL"
was supported by a short, two-week tour of the Eastern USA. Each
show filling major arenas (joking... actually each show was lucky to
draw a group of 50 people), MiLLENNiA developed a small, but very
passionate following (especially in Bay City, Michigan!!!).
After the 1996 successes, MiLLENNiA dissolved.. Harvell took a 2
year hiatus from his writing, but in 1998 decided to plug in his
faithful synth (a Roland D-50). With only his synth and his
computer, Harvell developed a new outlet for his musical jottings...
[null factor]. After a few self-released CD-R's and many compilation
appearances, [null factor] is back with a new, professionally
produced release... PURITY.
PURITY is a return to Harvell's roots... pure, electronic
industrial. Already gaining great reviews, PURITY shows that [null
factor] has found its niche... and plans to remain a force there for
a long time to come...
