Influenced by the American and European underground :::::::::
movement, Mau Mau started his DJ career at the legendary :::::::::
Madame Sata club, in Sao Paulo, in 1987. He is one of the :::::::::
pioneers of the electronic music in Brazil, who helped to :::::::::
spread it to the audience all over the country. :::::::::
:::::::::
He was the resident DJ at Sra. Krawitz club and also at :::::::::
Hell's Club, which many people considered as the club that :::::::::
was responsible for disseminating the electronic music in :::::::::
Brazil. At that time, he created and directed the :::::::::
SUBSCIENCE fanzine, which was about electronic music, :::::::::
behavior and fashion. :::::::::

Mau Mau is the owner of an individual style and he leads :::::::::
the dance floor with great skill, providing different :::::::::
feelings, always in tune with the most updated tendencies. :::::::::
:::::::::
His set is a mix of house, techno and techouse, always :::::::::
added to a beat full of Brazilian swing, which took him to :::::::::
participate in Carnaval 2000 in Salvador, Bahia, along :::::::::
with Daniela Mercury, creating the first techno group in :::::::::
the Carnaval of Bahia. In 2001 he performed at Parada da :::::::::
Paz (Peace Parade) in many sound trucks, and beside :::::::::
Daniela Mercury again in one of them. :::::::::

Mau Mau regularly performs in many cities in Brazil and is :::::::::
an obligatory presence in all the biggest events. His :::::::::
international career is also being built and he has :::::::::
already performed in different places as Argentina, Chile, :::::::::
USA, Portugal, France, UK, Germany and Turkey, always :::::::::
beside top DJs as Laurent Garnier, Josh Wink, Derrick :::::::::
Carter, Jeff Mills, Mr. C, Slam, Darren Emerson, among :::::::::
others. :::::::::

Mau Mau created his own music label, Tropic Records, which :::::::::
mixes electronic music with elements of Brazilian regional :::::::::
music. Tropic has already launched five singles, all made :::::::::
in London and easily found at European and American :::::::::
stores. Those singles are part of play-list and sets of :::::::::
important DJs as Derrick May (Fuse sep/2000), Carl Cox :::::::::
(Muzic), Mr.C (Kiss FM set) and Derrick Carter (DJ :::::::::
Magazine). With the M4J project, in a partnership with :::::::::
other musicians, Mau Mau launched two records: Brazilian :::::::::
Experience (which won the award as revelation group of :::::::::
Brazilian music, 1999 from APCA a Sao Paulo Association of :::::::::
Arts Reviewers) and Folclore Nuts, which had one of its :::::::::
tracks, Forro com F, released as a single by the British :::::::::
label Joss House and was nominated from Jockey Slut :::::::::
magazine at the recommended session. :::::::::

His songs also are also part of the musical set of radio G :::::::::
(from Paris) and famous Kiss FM (from London). The song :::::::::
Capoeira (M4J - Mau Mau remix) reached third place at :::::::::
Radio Arena MULTIKULT program, from Frankfurt, in August :::::::::

Besides his work with Tropic Records, he has already mixed :::::::::
and compiled two CDs: MAU MAU ALIVE (Fildz) and Hell's :::::::::
Club by Mau Mau (Fildz), and remixed songs from well known :::::::::
Brazilian artists, such as Marina Lima, Kiko Zanbianchi, :::::::::
Edgar Scandurra, Ira!, Rita Lee, Adriana Calcanhoto and :::::::::

In 2001, Mau Mau played in Argentina, France, Chile (where :::::::::
he was invited to be the resident DJ at TANTRA club, in :::::::::
Santiago) and Turkey, where he performed as a DJ and with :::::::::
his band M4J, in a memorable show which counted with the :::::::::
participation of the percussion of Camisa Verde e Branco :::::::::
Samba Group, at the 4th J&B Dance & Techno Festival in :::::::::
Istanbul. :::::::::

Along with DJ Renato Lopes (SmartBiz), Mau Mau was chosen :::::::::
to be the star of This is Real Slam - summer 2001/2002 :::::::::
collection advertising. This street wear brand, that is :::::::::
always present at the electronic music scene, chose these :::::::::
names because they are the best representatives of the :::::::::
electronic movement in Brazil. :::::::::

Well this is our third year around, and as always we will keep on :::::.
releasing good techno/electronic music to the scene. A lot has ::::::
happened under the three years in TechnoRulez. Some members have ::::::
come and some have passed on, but the fact that we have quality in ::::::
the releases has remained. Will also remain the same in the future. ::::::

We in TechnoRulez are in it for the fun! And we buy our own records ::::::
with hard earned cash! The artists we deal with are not rock stars. ::::::
They don't pretend to be 'the man'. They're not part of the ::::::
establishment or the multi-million dollar music business. So the ::::::
only way our scene can stay alive is through its undying support for ::::::
the artists and labels. *THIS* is the sole reason we release music. ::::::
::::::
So for fuck's sake, if you like what your hear, go to your local ::::::
record shop and purchase a copy of your own. It's your duty! Only ::::::
through this process we can all continue to enjoy techno music to ::::::
the fullest. As far as our releases go, if you can get hold of them, ::::::
be happy and treasure them. Don't start posting to public domains ::::::
or sources!! This will eventually result in a more restricted ::::::
distribution of our releases, possibly even only internal... ::::::
