Les Gammas are true live musicians, remixers, visionairies, jazz-
and soundtrack addicts, great arrangers and composers with a unique
style, but above all, they are open-minded people. Their music
perfectly bridges the gap between listening music and club. Live,
this concept is underlined by drums, rhodes, piano, keys, and bass
by Pe Spier. They are inspired by Club Sounds, Jazz, Boogie,
Northern and Soundtrack-Music, but always with a big pinch of heart
& soul.
Tom Wieland is DJ & part-time producer with Les Gammas. He is the
founder of Vibe Klub in Augsburg, which is Les Gammas' hometown and
cherished abode. For eight years now, it has been one of the
longest running jazz not jazz club-nights in Germany, with
international guest stars such as Patrick Forge, DJ Krush, K&D,
Rainer Trⁿby, Jazzanova, James Lavelle, and many others.
Tom has been DJ-ing all over Europe, but he also has his very own
club now at the Meierei in Vienna with its monthly WELTWEIT events.
His DJ style: deep & soulful Nu Jazz grooves, jazzy Downbeat up to
House with a touch of jazzy retro tunes from latin to boogie
wonderland.
On Austrian national radio ORF, Tom Wieland hosts the weekly Gilles
Peterson "World Wide Show" on FM4.
Mark's vocals were described by Gilles Peterson as a mixture of
Marc Murphy and Tony Joe White. Marc Frank (vocals, drums, DJ),
rhythmic mind of Les Gammas, has been spinning jazz records for
more than seven years now. His sets include friendly eclectic tunes
from percussive 60s to Brazil-influenced 90s. Les Gammas have
played festivals all over Europe, for example in Berlin
(Volksbⁿhne), Fez Jazz Festival (Bari), Wiesen in Austria, and Jazz
