Okay, you may be wondering as a
trance/techno type why I'm bothering to
review this? Well, it contains remixes by
Quivver, Nalin & Kand, Trouser Enthusiasts
and Sash! Unfortunately though, the label
has signed up a lot of top DJ's/producers to
remix the cheesy pop dance stuff and because
they spend so much time doing other things,
remixing a Kylie track is going to be the
last thing they bother about, so obviously
the remixes aren't exactly top quality!
Quivver, half of Tilt, who are responsible
for remixing Jan Johnston's "Flesh" and Bt's
"Mercury & Solace" has remixed "Some kind Of
Bliss" and brought his techno trance sound
to the song! It starts off all slow and
downbeat with the distorted vocals "Some
Kind Of Bliss" and then breaks into your bog
standard uptempo trance track with no vocals
for about 4 mins. After that it breaks back
down and thre vocals kick back in. The rest
of the track is then downbeat and slow to
the end. It's not bad but it's nowt special!
The Trouser Enthusiasts Mix of "Did It
Again" starts of with a kind of bleepy sound
then really cheesy vocals kick in! After
that it breaks into a kind of Acid Techno
track with small but not too bad vocal
samples. After that it breaks back down
again and the cheesy vocals appear, then it
breaks into the TE sound familliar with
their remixes of Loveclub "The
Journey"(Platipus)m Tomski "14 Hours To Save
The Earth" and Armin "Blue Fear". More
cheesy vocals kick in after about 6 mins and
in my opinion spoil a really good
instrumental! The production qulaity is
excellent, it's just the fact it's a remix
of such a bad track taht spoils it! There
are remixes of "Breathe" by Sash! and Nalin
& Kane". The Nalin & Kand Mix is very poor
and does not follow along the lines of any
of their tracks eg "Beachball, "Open Your
Eyes"! The Sash! mix isn't too bad but seems
confused whether it wants to be Eurotrance
or techno!
All in all, some of the mixes aren't bad,
but who this is aimed at buying I don't
know. Kylie fans will no doubt be put off by
the sheer diversity of the remixes and
Trance/techno people will not be buying
something by Kykie Minogue, so I can't
reccommend it really!
