▓ There is a great case to be made for wanting to be ▓
▓ Lou Rawls, because let's face it the man is cool. Not ▓
▓ just ordinary cool, but cool with several extra o's ▓
▓ inserted. So cool in fact that his nickname is ▓
▓ Brotherman. He sings like a god, he talks on stage ▓
▓ like he's propping up a bar and he's sold more than a ▓
▓ few albums. Lou was never part of the "sock it to ▓
▓ me!" soul brigade but rather he straddled a divide ▓
▓ between soulman, jazz singer and supper club swinger. ▓
▓ He always knew a good tune, and whenever he took one ▓
▓ on, even as a passing acquaintance he always got to ▓
▓ know it very well. This disc shows Lou away from the ▓
▓ standards and blues that are so often anthologised; ▓
▓ combining the hits of the day with Lou's own assaults ▓
▓ on the pop charts. All the tracks on this compilation ▓
▓ are taken from his years at Capitol between ▓
▓ 1965-1971. A special mention must be made for long ▓
▓ time producer and often arranger David Axelrod who ▓
▓ created the backdrops in front of which Lou could ▓
