Pat Foosheen and Guest DJ Conor Larkin
Conor Larkin has been an avid electronic music
enthusiast since the early nineties. Spending much of
his youth listening to the B96 Mixmasters with what was
then the most upfront dance music at the time, Conor
still recalls tracks like LA Style's "James Brown is
Dead", KLF's "3AM Eternal", that insane Keoki remix of
the Speed Racer Theme, and even the gabber remix of the
Sesame Street theme tune. As the grunge and alternative
rock movement pulled him away from the scene as a
teenager, a chance purchase of URB's Urbal Beats and
BT's acclaimed 'ESCM' in late 1997 brought him back full
circle to electronic music. As time progressed, so did
his taste in music, which moved from the Jesus-pose
Trance to the more subtle and groovy trance (with a
't'), and even breakbeat of the nu-skool form. Taking
note of every move, every mix, and every tune by Sasha,
John Digweed, Tony DeVit, and Nick Warren, Mr. Larkin
soon bought his first decks in the latter half of 2000.
At College, Conor quickly found himself playing a large
number of parties, including a residency at one of the
local clubs. After a year of weekly gigs, and thousands
of requests for hip-hop, Conor moved on to larger events
with a more educated and up-for-it crowd. Recently, Mr.
Larkin has had the distinct opportunity to play
alongside notable talent such as Lezbend, Reid Speed,
Christopher Lawrence, and The Crystal Method. Currently,
he's begun to focus on music production ranging from
breakbeat, jazzy drum and bass, and downtempo/ambient
sounds.
Today, Conor can be found at Indiana University studying
business, political science, and criminal justice,
though he spends most of his time listening to
protonradio.com!
Though many premier league DJ's were influential in
shaping his musical tastes, he would like to note the
smaller, lesser known, but just as important, artists
and DJ's who continue to keep things fresh: Peter
Benisch, Maya Amack, Jon Lisle, Jonn Serrie, Digital
Witchcraft, Habersham & Numinous, Putte Ponsbach,
