. . ..:: TECHNOCLUB RELEASER NOTES ::.. . .
The Hinges are a 3 piece punk band that hail
from the North West of England. Their aggresive
electronic and unique sound spawns from a
pent-up frusation with their small northern town
and its mentality. Providing the perfect
motivation to write, sing and produce songs with
an angry talent rarely seen in the UK since the
early 70's.
Their influences are diverse, ranging from Daft
Punk to The Clash, influnces blatently audible
in "Today". The subject matter of which is the
glut of todays 'pop idol' and tv talent
searching that in their opinion has produced
one too many Gareth Gates and Will Youngs -
however talented they may be.
The Hinges burst onto the scene late summer 2003
having just signed album deals in Australia the
UK, and with one on the way for Germany. The
single "Today" is their first release thus far.
Their production is unique - Norman Cook has
said of their work "Breath of Fresh Fucked Up
Air" . Whilst their live act is a force of
nature, NME saw them play in their home town of
Carlisle and were quoted as saying "The Hinges
blend perfectly the punk rock n roll with a
unique dance orientated sound to devasting
effect, true dancefloor destruction Cramps
style!"
