How to maneuver in the darkness, avoiding the
treacherous shoals and harbours of our times, is
not something Patrick Bishop and his band, Peter
Zemp (Guitar) and Lukas Iselin (Piano), would know
much about. However, they do feel comfortable in
their sense for catchy pop and folk sounds, carried
by Patrick Bishop's charming voice. His songs, some
of which had their humble beginnings on the
boulevards of Paris or in the pubs of Dublin, deal
with inconspicuous beauty, second glances and the
daily struggles of those who love and equally
suffer. It is the quiet tunes of this world that
Patrick Bishop seeks to capture, letting them sweep
him away on his journeys, often on long and winding
roads from the small stages and cellars of Bern's
old town unto the heights, as for example the
Gurtenfestival, which the trio was asked to play
this summer.
