The Church of Synth is apparently an ex-techno producer
from Germany, and has quite a colorful (read : fake)
backstory, but letÆs ignore that for a second. The thing
is, the record is actually pretty darned good, coming
across like Salem after a bad afternoon with their dealer.
ItÆs molasses-slow stuff, but with the kind of gothy/EBM
grind we last fell in love with back when Ministry were
still great. Even better, thereÆs a handful of remixes
from some pretty impressive names; Haxan Cloak and Burial
Hex in particular. Haxan CloakÆs is an abrasive
speaker-destroying venture into extreme noise and synth
destruction, but Burial Hex turns in two unexpected 4/4
reworks that take the textures of TCoSÆs originals and
give them the lo-fidelity vigour they were crying out for.
