: Volksweerbaarheid is a dutch formation, that play short and direct
songs based on strong military percussions, acoustic guitars and
a stern male voice to which are added a few samples and some discreet
keyboards.
Volksweerbaarheid derives its name from an old students' association,
which was erected in the early 20th century. In fact, this assocation still
seems to exist somewhere in the margins of some university cities.
It's a semi-militaristic club, with as main goals, at the time of its
foundation around 1900, 'to make every Dutch citizen able of defence, and to
enlarge his sense of independence and civil and militaristic awareness by
means of sporting and shooting practice' (Volksweerbaarheid means the ability
of a people to defend itself).
In other words, the Dutch band Volksweerbaarheid uses the imagery of this
old association to play with themes such as militarism and nationalism,
while creating a nostalgic image at the same time.

MORAL DiSCLAiMER: We are very aware of the fact that our releases
contribute to the growing sale losses of record companies.
Unfortunately our style primarily targets small, independant labels
that need sales to survive.
For these reasons we ask you not to distribute this release on public
sites or P2P tools; if more and more receive their music from the net,
artists and labels will have to face even less sells than nowadays.
Please do not consider this release as a substitute to the original, but
only as a way to check out and learn about new music.
We absolutely do not approve of DJs or other individuals that earn
money from pirated music - Don't let them get their hands on it!
By buying the albums you like you disperse the guilt we feel by
releasing this music - Enjoy the music and be fair with the artists!
YOUR support is required to keep them financially alive and producing!
