Run Level Zero return for their second album ôWalk the psycho[path]ö and
what a return! Since their previous outing ôSymbol of Submissionö something
has definitely happened.
After this album Run Level Zero started a journey down a path few bands
have returned from - one of break ups, madness and new acquaintances.
Accordingly Run Level Zero is now the solo project of vocalist and
mastermind Hans ┼kerman. Following on the idea of creating heavy electronic
music as well as documenting current events and cultural degeneration, the
new album has a musical shift of focus from the previous one.
Additionally there are differences in the geographical and temporal view-
points. On their first album inspiration was found mainly in Belgium and
the past. Now on ôWalk the psycho[path]ö, the focus is around Canada
generally - Vancouver in particular - and the sound is more contemporary
and fixed on a future horizon. Although contemporary in sound, they leave
their peers far behind with the maturity of the songs and the professional
production, the latter courtesy of Kristian Pettersson. As people tire of
being force-fed shallow, empty, mass-produced hybrids of the same theme, Run
Level Zero are sure to pick up a following of considerable size, to
become one of the classic bands in the genre.
ôWalk the psycho[path]ö is quite dark but still maintains a humoristic twist
and offers a lot of surprises both in style and execution, making it almost
postmodern in itÆs mix of pop culture and artistic expression.
The aforementioned maturity is evident in the songs and in the courage to
avoid making up-tempo dance hybrids. Having followed Run Level Zero down
this path of obscured sanity youÆll be left with just a glimpse of something
much bigger, and you will eventually be drawn to walk the path over and over,
seeking out the complete picture - a picture that may never be fully realised
so keeping you on the path eternally. Welcome down the psychopath.
