█▀░░░ ░░░▀█
█▀░░ PsyCZ group was formed in spring 2001 by its first three members ... ░░▀█
█▀░ But as every group grows and gets new members, new people joined PsyCZ ░▀█
█▀░ to help us in our mission. Our main common loved genere was psychedelic ░▀█
█▀░ ... of course, but everone of us likes several more genres. This caused, ░▀█
█▀░ that several members began to demand releasing other music styles such ░▀█
█▀░ as ambient, drum&bass and few more ... So we realized, that our original ░▀█
█▀░ name PsyCZ is a little uncomfortable, because it highlights our psy - ░▀█
█▀░ sight. After few days of debates we decided to found new sub-group ... ░▀█
█▀░ and here we are ... PsyCZ_NP will bring you plenty of non psychedelic ░▀█
█▀░ music ... especially ambient, but some other genres are planned too. ░▀█
█▀░ Why did we decide for non-psy? Changing of the group name isn't possible ░▀█
█▀░ so possibilities we had was only adding a suffix to current group name ░▀█
█▀░░ ... so have chosen non-psy, because it's clearest and most fluent ... ░░▀█

█▀║ Info retyped from booklet: ║▀█
█▀║ ║▀█
█▀║ In the tradition of the inordinately successful Acid Jazz Jazz series ║▀█
█▀║ comes our millennial offering, Revelations... If you've purchased any ║▀█
█▀║ of its esteemed predecessors you'll know exactly what to expect; a ║▀█
█▀║ collision of differing Jazz themes, each pursuing itw own blend of ║▀█
█▀║ ideas and influences to create a vibrant musical spectroscope. ║▀█
█▀║ Over the last eighteen months the synthesised genius of orchestral ║▀█
█▀║ conductor composer and arranger Peter Thomas has been rediscovered by ║▀█
█▀║ a new generation of German youth. Led by luminaries like Rainer Truby ║▀█
█▀║ and Bungalow Records' Maxwell Implosion, this 78 year old has been ║▀█
█▀║ back in the studio for collaborations with the like of Stereolab for ║▀█
█▀║ reinterpretations of his classic theme tunes from the sixties. This ║▀█
█▀║ track "Fischer's Fritze Hext Frische Hexer" is one such project, this ║▀█
█▀║ time between The Peter Thomas Orchestra and jungend Dusseldorfer Xaver ║▀█
█▀║ Fischer, magnificently showcasing Thoma's esoteric ideas and Fischer's ║▀█
█▀║ awesome Wurlitzer which can also be heard a few cuts down the list ║▀█
█▀║ with his own trio in attendance on the tuff, non compromising Funk ║▀█
█▀║ Fusion of "Machine Talk". ║▀█
█▀║ Mac Tontoh was one of the founding members of Afro Funk outfit ║▀█
█▀║ Osibisa, who along with Fela Kuti are also enjoying something of a ║▀█
█▀║ cultural reappraisal. "Sosomilaso" sees him with a five piece ║▀█
█▀║ percussion section (including renowned Ashanti drummers Kwadwo Boakye, ║▀█
█▀║ Justice Obeng and Kwabena Bonsu), horns, bass, keys and the awesome ║▀█
█▀║ vocal talent of Togolese/Jamaican poet Messiah Aguze. Recorded live in ║▀█
█▀║ the open air at the site of his then unbuilt Accra studio, Hotnot (now ║▀█
█▀║ thankfully completed), under the progressive eye of producer Mike ║▀█
█▀║ Swai. This is the future of African Funk and lifted from Mac's debut ║▀█
█▀║ album, to be released on Acid Jazz next year. ║▀█
█▀║ Soul Jazz is something close to our hearts and it is with pride that ║▀█
█▀║ we are able to introduce a stupendous version of the Stevie Wonder ║▀█
█▀║ anthem "Superstition" recorded by the Sookie All-Stars, who made their ║▀█
█▀║ UK debut on Acid Jazz's New Testament Of Funk release earlier this ║▀█
█▀║ year. Everyone's feeling pretty and it's hotter than July... ║▀█
█▀║ Close your eyes for "Vinnie Beneducci" and you could be in a seedy ║▀█
█▀║ back street dive in Chicago. Actually, you're not. You're in West ║▀█
█▀║ London and it's Danny Waldman and John Now doing a Wes and Jimmy. The ║▀█
█▀║ Syndicate are young and sharp, led by the progressive guitar of 23 ║▀█
█▀║ year old Waldman and we think this bodes well for the future of the ║▀█
█▀║ British jazz tradition. ║▀█
█▀║ For the next track "From One to Three", close your eyes and you really ║▀█
█▀║ are in Chicago. George L. Jackson is still a baby at 21 but he plays ║▀█
█▀║ with the verve and drive of his mentor and former teacher Charles ║▀█
█▀║ Earland. Raised on the Babtist beat of McDuff, Smith and McGriff his ║▀█
█▀║ Hammond B3 style and the sparse clipped performance of his trio is ║▀█
█▀║ surprisingly refreshing. Gospel Jazz for the Jim and Tammy Faye ║▀█
█▀║ generation... ║▀█
█▀║ The Emperors New Clothes were special. Classic underarchievers they ║▀█
█▀║ were originally a live band from Newcastle who'd moved down to London ║▀█
█▀║ and signed to Acid Jazz. Their enigmatic blend of Eastern Jazz and ║▀█
█▀║ trippy dub won them plaudits from Trevor Jackson, Ben Chapman and ║▀█
█▀║ other leading lights of British Hip Hop three years before Trip Hop ║▀█
█▀║ had been conceived (indeed, their collaboration with James Lavelle's ║▀█
█▀║ UNKLE also appeared on tHe New Testament of Funk). Their anarchic ║▀█
█▀║ stage show had more in common with The Art Ensemble Of Chicago or ║▀█
█▀║ Frank Zappa than any of their labelmates. Audiences tended to sit ║▀█
█▀║ cross legged on the dancefloor discussing Satre and skinning up rather ║▀█
█▀║ than dancing. "Four Corners" is a dark, pulsating trip down the left ║▀█
█▀║ hand path. ║▀█
█▀║ The Italians seem obsessed with the sixties Dolce Vita style. There ║▀█
█▀║ has been a vibrant film industry based in Rome since before the war ║▀█
█▀║ and easy listening guru Paolo Scotti has spent the last fifteen years ║▀█
█▀║ as an archeologist unearthing rare slices of cinematic glory and ║▀█
█▀║ representing them on his Emilia Romagna based label, Studio Uno. His ║▀█
█▀║ latest production of the group VIP 200 takes its lead from soundtrack ║▀█
█▀║ composers Piccioni, Trovaioli and Umiliani with the typical sounds of ║▀█
█▀║ the era (Hammond, classic percussion, 6T's drums), their mission is to ║▀█
█▀║ spread "A Taste Of Honey" and Cinecitta vibe round Europe. ║▀█
█▀║ What can one say about James Taylor that hasn't already been said? ║▀█
█▀║ Virtually single-handedly he has reinvented the Hammond Organ and ║▀█
█▀║ re-established British Jazz at the forefront of contemporary music. ║▀█
█▀║ Since 1986 the JTQ have been ripping up dancefloors worldwide, and ║▀█
█▀║ this effort, the previously un-recorded "Fourth Dimension" is culled ║▀█
█▀║ from the latest James Taylor Quartet long player "The Penthouse Suite" ║▀█
█▀║ (released on Acid Jazz in the autumn of '99). ║▀█
█▀║ Finally, bringing Revelations to a close is a rare and unusual slice ║▀█
█▀║ of Acid Jazz history. "Rejoice in Righteousness" from The Bukky Leo ║▀█
█▀║ Quartet and The Voices Of East London was recorded in a tiny studio in ║▀█
█▀║ East Ham (belonging to a fromer member of Iron Maiden!) way back in ║▀█
█▀║ 1987. The first ever full recording session hosted and produced by ║▀█
█▀║ Gilles Peterson and myself, it was an attempt (only an attempt, mind ║▀█
█▀║ you) to capture the vibrancy of what was going on with the Jazz ║▀█
█▀║ community in clubs like Dingwalls and The Electric Ballroom back in ║▀█
█▀║ those heady early days. Rumour has it the 'voices" featured the ║▀█
█▀║ producers along with the likes of Rob Galliano and Conscious Records, ║▀█
█▀║ Andi Lindsay as well as several others. Listening back I can only say ║▀█
█▀║ that I can't hear myselft (fortunately!). ║▀█
█▀║ This album sends respect to Paul Murphy, the aforementioned Peterson ║▀█
█▀║ and all the old jazzers from '86. You know who you are (where?)... ║▀█
█▀║ Eddie Piller, East London. October 1999. ║▀█

█▀║ As time goes by, the world matures. PsyCZ has matured and the scene has ║▀█
█▀║ matured. PsyCZ started releasing in VBR over two years ago, and was met ║▀█
█▀║ with skepticism. As time went by, more and more realised that VBR is ║▀█
█▀║ superiour to cbr 192. Finally, now in 2004, VBR is allowed by the scene. ║▀█
█▀║ PsyCZ will also in 2004 continue to bring you the finest psychedelic ║▀█
█▀║ trance music from around the world, as we have since 2001. ║▀█
