▓████▓▌ In 1992, in Cesaria EvoraÆs wake, Teofilo Chantre ▓▌
▓████▓▌ emerged after he had written 3 songs for the album ▓▌
▓████▓▌ ôMiss Perfumadoö, the most famous album of the Cape ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Verde Diva. He soon became her (living) favorite ▓▌
▓████▓▌ composer and started promoting to standards some ▓▌
▓████▓▌ compositions that have the qualities of Capeverdean ▓▌
▓████▓▌ classics. ▓▌
▓████▓▌ But Teofilo Chantre also deserves to be discovered ▓▌
▓████▓▌ for his own work: after ôTerra & Cretcheuö (1993) ▓▌
▓████▓▌ and ôDi Almaö (1997), he released his third album ▓▌
▓████▓▌ ôRodatempoö in 2000 and a live recoding in 2002. ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Fond of Cuban and Brazilian musics, Teofilo is an ▓▌
▓████▓▌ inspired melody writer, true to the instrumentation ▓▌
▓████▓▌ (guitar, cavaquinho, violin, piano) and to the ▓▌
▓████▓▌ traditional forms of coladera or morna which are ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Capeverdean songs to dance on or to cry over. He ▓▌
▓████▓▌ reveals himself a talented arranger, between ▓▌
▓████▓▌ chamber music and Creole jazz. His velvety voice ▓▌
▓████▓▌ and the cool swing of the guitar make him close to ▓▌
▓████▓▌ the Brazilian bossa nova singers, furthermore ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Teofilo excels in a sweet and sour, tender and ▓▌
▓████▓▌ sophisticate register. ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Very soon after the release of ôRodatempoö, given ▓▌
▓████▓▌ the obvious pleasure that Teofilo now takes in ▓▌
▓████▓▌ appearing on stage, someone came up with the idea ▓▌
▓████▓▌ of a live recording. The subtlety and maestria of ▓▌
▓████▓▌ his arrangements find their full expression in the ▓▌
▓████▓▌ work of musicians who accompanie him in the fullest ▓▌
▓████▓▌ sense of the term (he has performed with the same ▓▌
