Dear nukers of various nukenets,
please take some time to read these lines regading the "mutiple encoders not
allowed" rule.
As you may have noticed already, when checking this release with tools like
audio identifier or mr. question man, track 11 and 20 will show to be encoded
with FhG instead of Lame 3.97, like the others. However, the information given
by these two tools is not correct, because a different encoder was used in this
case: GoGo (After 3.0).
Now, what is GoGo (After 3.0)? And why is it not recognized correctly by those
tools? Even google doesnt deliver too much usefull info about it, but I did
some research which i'd like to share with you.
GoGo (After 3.0) is basically based on lame, but it was altered to fasten up
the encoding process. It's not very common and kindof old, however,
Traxcource uses this encoder for all their stuff. I know only one tool that
is able to recognize this encoder: encspot. Encspot is kindof old as well,
I guess thats the reason why it's able to handle this encoder but newer
programms just "forgot" about it.
For Traxsource it makes alot of sense, to get the waves encoded as fast as
possible because as you all know, the amount they need to encode everyday is
massive. And Time is money...
However, in some cases even encspot fails to show the correct info about the
encoder like in this case, and therefore shows a different encoder as well.
But think about it, the rule was introduced to prevent that a web release
is put together from different sources. Why would we (or any other group
that buys from traxsource) buy 18 tracks there, and then trying to get 2
tracks from a different source? This makes no sense at all..
Yesterday, Joe_Rizla--Unreleased_Material_Two-(BKM030)-WEB-2011-dh was
nuked for the same reason, but in this case encspot recognizes the
encoder of all 3 files correctly, please check for yourself.
So in conclusion, if you take your nuker's job seriously, please
investigate this issue for yourself, and do not always blindly trust
your tools.. and remember what my friend Kant did say: "Sapere Aude!" ;-)
