: Quite simply, itÆs not hard to like her music. SheÆs :
: such a nice person (I should know, I met her once!) and :
: her sound recordings are a blast to listen to. :
: Evidence: this recent album, a collaboration with :
: Wobbly and Matmos, which takes traditions of both :
: country and western AND foundsound/plunderphonics and :
: turning them on their head (ten gallon hat and all). :

: This album is such a joy to listen to, not just because :
: of its humorous samples of country songs, Western :
: movies, and country-and-western radio (note in :
: particular the excellent Helter Stupid-era :
: Negativland-reminiscent samples at the beginning of :
: track 3), but because it manages to even have hooks and :
: melodies, and itÆs incredibly catchy and memorable, :
: unlike a lot of such sound collagery! This is my :
: favorite People Like Us album, and probably the best :
: thing IÆve heard by Matmos or Wobbly as well, for that :
: matter. ThereÆs so much incredible stuff on hereà so :
: many cleverly arranged bits of songs and dialogue, and :
: even some dance beats here and there (as in the :
: excellent track ôCallingö)! Bonus points for the fact :
: that this is a completely live performance, and also :
: for sampling the Birthday Holler from WFMU's Greasy Kid :
