The name appeared as a combination of two participants of the project -
Alex and Android.
They were born in Riga, traveled trough the Europe - one of them was in
England, another one in German, then they have changed the residence to
Saint Petersburg visiting Riga and Moscow. They meet again and again
with new materials, ideas, and impressions. Their enthusiasm is backed
by heavy rotations in German, where the track "Olainfarm" held the
second position in myownmusic.com chart for a month and got a real
feedback after the radio translation. Alexandroid were the first to
release their vinyl plate on Austrian label "Syntactic" in1995.
At the same time they began to perform in country - Moscow, Riga, Saint
Petersburg. In Saint Petersburg musicians became acquainted with New
Compositors and Brain Eno. They participate in international festivals:
in Helsinki, represented Russia on "Forces of light"; work with
soundtracks for video of Moscow and Riga craftsmen, make remixes to the
most famous Russian artists, they are always searching for original
sound on fabrics and bunkers. Musicians release their ambient
compilation on Australian label "Noise at night". And Android is a
co-sound producer of Mumiy Troll` new album.
Alexandroid have six releases - two of them on MC and four on CD format.
In a nearest future Citadel records is planning to release their new
album "Soundtracks II" that follows the previous label` release of the
artists "Soundtracks".
On their concerts artists demonstrate how does anti-lounge electronic
music sound (anti-easy, jazzy): noise, techno, industrial, minimal and
psychedelics.
