Bear Funk label head Stevie Kotey has a new full-length in the
works, simply entitled Full Length.
The name on the record is Kotey Extra Band, but as the press
release quickly admits, "Kotey Extra Band isn't really a fully
fledged band." Instead, it's more like Steve Kotey with a bunch of
scattered guest artists, including Bear Funk regulars Bottin, Max
Essa and Kyle "Sly" Chandler (of Foolish and Sly). Norwegian disco
artist Lindstrom plays on two tracks, and Kotey's fellow Chicken
Lips member Dean Meredith makes an appearance as well. As anyone
familiar with Kotey might expect, the record's overall vibe is
sunny, retro and heavily disco-influenced. It will be the UK-based
artist's first full-length since Zim Zim Zar Zar, the LP he
produced in 2009 with Max Essa under the name Soiree.
