Flip Kowlier, born Philip Willy Mariette Cauwelier ( Izegem , 1976 )
was a Flemish singer-songwriter who sings in West Flemish (the
dialect of West Flanders ).
Besides his solo career Kowlier is also one of the front men of the
West-Flemish hip hop group 't Hof van Commerce and bassist in the
group My Velma . He also has the CD Idol finalist Brahim produced and
wrote his lyrics.
He was successful in both Belgium and Netherlands , and was already
several times at various festivals (including Marktrock Leuven and
Rock Werchter ). His first major appearance was in the Ancienne
Belgique in 2001 , in the schedule of Lais .
In addition, Flip Kowlier also written two books: "Conflicts over
food particles 'and' About gnomes. Two children's books in
collaboration with frow, which is also the artwork of his first CD
care.
He also worked along with Michael Franti and Gabriel Rios , along
with What's this, the charity single for the Studio Brussel -Action
Music for Life .
On Thursday, January 19, 2006, he was honored as an Honorary Citizen
of City Izegem . On February 2, 2009 he became the laureate of the
Flemish Culture Prize for Music .
