Based on his BBC London radio show of the same name,
Giant 45, spans Normans finer tastes in soul, funk,
house, reggae, hip-hop and everything in between. Airing
every Sunday night on 94.9fm between 7:00pm - 10:00pm,
Giant 45 has a loyal listenership which is growing weekly
with the worldwide fanbase tuning in via internet radio.
For music lovers, and trainspotters alike, this is truly
a fantastic collection of musical delights. From the
incomprehensibly camp "Disco Lucy" that makes you hate
yourself for loving it, to the truly interesting version
of "What The World Needs Now Is Love" by Tom Clay.
Some compilations follow an obvious pattern, you can see
what connects them, even if it is slight tenuous, but
with this compilation it is plain and simple. They are
all fantastic tracks. In my mind, the main aim of a
compilation CD is not to make it easier for you to access
all your favourite songs it is to educate.
People should always approach such offerings with open
minds, because as is the case with any music lover, you
will often not only fall in love with a previously
undiscovered song, but a whole genre of music that you
would never have considered before as the type of music
you could grow to love.
Even if you have never heard of any of the tracks on this
CD, you should buy it simply because it offers such a
wide range of downright, kick ass good music. Frankly it
is so good that you would be mad not to. If the Queen can
recognise that this man can spin a good tune or two, then
you most certainly should at least make the effort to see
what HRH was on about.
