│║ After the third FOREFATHER-album "Engla Tocyme" ║ │
│║ had overrun me, I immediately started to search ║ │
│║ for their other releases and over eBay I got ║ │
│║ "The Fighting Man", the second album of the ║ │
│║ English duo. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Again crowned by a great Chrille Andersson-cover ║ │
│║ also "The Fighting Man" so to say brings us ║ │
│║ Anglo-Saxon Metal, the English variant of Viking ║ │
│║ Metal. As basis most probably Black Metal, but ║ │
│║ so much more built on top of it, grandiose ║ │
│║ melodies, variable vocals (blackish as well as ║ │
│║ clear-heroic), very good structures and ║ │
│║ arrangements, basically you cannot really ║ │
│║ compare FOREFATHER to any other band. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Already the opening title-track brings us for ║ │
│║ one Black Metallic guitars and a fast rhythm ║ │
│║ together with not so gruff Black Metal-vocals, ║ │
│║ but also traditional passages, calmer or just ║ │
│║ more melodic, with the excellent clear voice of ║ │
│║ Wulfstan, which adds its very special and own ║ │
│║ touch to the material. But also on the rest of ║ │
│║ the album we only get top-quality music, which ║ │
│║ never gets boring or shallow, but always knows ║ │
│║ to convince with own ideas and melodies, be it ║ │
│║ through intelligent use of keyboards, great ║ │
│║ guitar-leads or the vocals. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ To point out highlights is almost impossible, ║ │
│║ because everything is on an equally high level ║ │
│║ and for a self-produced album the sound, too, ║ │
│║ has turned out to be great, so I can only tell ║ │
│║ you one thing: Search for this one and get it, ║ │
│║ it is absolutely worth it! (And maybe I should ║ │
│║ have given "Engla Tocyme" a 9, tooà) ║ │
