Despite the title, Slugabed returns with quite a melancholy, slightly
introspective slice of post G-funk. The real stand out is a phenomenally
spacious rework from West Coast eccentric Daedelus, who makes the track even
woozier and more introspective, then drapes it in reverb and sickly female
vocals. The end result could rightly be called Lynchian – when the doo-wop
break drops in the middle you know you’re being treated to something pretty
darn special indeed.
