░███▒ █████▓
░███▓ Randall Jones and Phillip Charles are perhaps two of ██████
░███▓ the most well known mambers of the Tigerhook ██████
░███▓ Corporation. In addition to their solo production work ██████
░███▓ on labels such as Shaboom and Bedrock, the duo have ██████
░███▓ forged a very promising relationship which has ██████
░███▓ delivered material for Inversus, and now they arrive in ██████
░███▓ the UK, bringing the debut release for the promising ██████
░███▓ new label Nu Republic. It seems that if this release is ██████
░███▓ anything to go by, then this label is going to be ██████
░███▓ something special indeed. ██████
░███▓ ██████
░███▓ ██████
░███▓ On the a-side is 'Dedicated To Change', pulsating beats ██████
░███▓ edging slowly into an atmospheric groove over which ██████
░███▓ filtered vocal samples are dropped, concealed by soft ██████
░███▓ melodic stabs and industrial synth effects. A break ██████
░███▓ early on adds a dark and eerie nature of the track, as ██████
░███▓ the progressive style beats keep the pace and mood ██████
░███▓ intact leading up the second half of the track, cut up ██████
░███▓ loops dropping out the beats as the next break looms. A ██████
░███▓ brief vocal solo interrupts before an atmospheric outro ██████
░███▓ brings things back to a sense of order with subtle ██████
░███▓ grandeur. ██████
░███▓ ██████
░███▓ ██████
░███▓ If 'Dedicated To Change' was the colour black, then ██████
░███▓ 'Cold Dark Stars' must be white as the two tracks are ██████
░███▓ total opposites. Subtle beat patterns cover an emotive ██████
░███▓ atmospheric sweep which fades in and out of the groove ██████
░███▓ as the melodic synth line flutters over the top, easing ██████
░███▓ you gently in. As the almost celestial-esque beats ██████
░███▓ enter, the pace shifts and the effects that fill out ██████
░███▓ the groove only add to the delicate yet warm soundscape ██████
░███▓ being crafted, whilst retaining enough tempo to command ██████
░███▓ the dancefloor. No doubt about it, Phil and Randall ██████
░███▓ deliver another superb track that Tigerhook fans will ██████
░███▓ lap up. ██████
░███▓ ██████
░███▓ ██████
░███▓ To borrow some words from Randall, this is a 'phat ██████
░███▓ little two tracker' that blends elements of Tigerhook's ██████
░███▓ 'West Phillp EP' and Randall's solo work with Phillip's ██████
░███▓ production prowess from his awesome 'Auraplex' album. ██████
░███▓ Needless to say, if you are a fan of these two, this is ██████
░███▓ not to be missed, and if you have never heard any of ██████
░███▓ their work, this is the best place to start. Pick it up ██████
░███▓ without delay. ██████
