Aurality Records, a U.S./U.K. collaborative record label, has released
their first recording, The Transatlantic EP from the artists Zeus-Proof.
The EP features 4 original tracks, ranging from laid-back electronica to
progressive trance floor-fillers. The tracks were written and produced
by Ali Aitken of Dundee, Scotland, and Kevin Oie of Minneapolis, MN, USA.
The EP starts off with the releases' most powerful offering, Waveform. Its
pounding bassline and painfully beautiful piano and string break will haunt
listeners for days after. T-Section follows, a middle-eastern tinged trance
track with a unique distorted flute lead, is perfect for filling the dancefloor.
On side AA, the melancholic liquid sound of Drown is first, calming and exciting
at the same time, with an ethereal vocal break drenched in atmosphere.
The record is rounded off by Gaia, a bubbling breaks track that's wonderful as a
build, or for chilling out to after a hard night of clubbing.
The Transatlantic EP was produced in both the U.S. and the U.K., and pressed in
London. Perhaps the most remarkable thing about Zeus-Proof is that the two men,
who are "closer than brothers," according to Oie, have never met. The collaboration
took place entirely through the technological wonder of the Internet, where distance
means nothing, and magic truly can exist as a string of 1's and 0's.
