Weekend is an American lo-fi / shoegaze trio from San
Francisco, California. The band formed in 2009 and released
two EPs, with the full-length debut album Sports coming on
Slumberland Records in 2010. The album received an 8.2
rating from Pitchfork Media.
San Francisco debut of gorgeous, summery pop melodies buried
deeply under mountains of explosive guitar feedback noise.
Brittle-shard shoegaze waves of lovely-heart, brooding
barbed-wire guitar that caress with the haunting post-punk
wail of stoned & forlorn teenagers--set free with their
guitars, a stack of Beach Boys, Ramones & Joy Division
albums, and a wall of severely overloaded and distorted amps
decorated with skulls. Reminiscent of Jesus & Mary Chain,
The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Black Tambourines, No Age,
A Place To Bury Strangers, etc.
