mavenalli is in fact not one sentient being, but two independent
living breathing beings. beings that can laugh, smile, love and
understand the full gamut of emotions that shape the way us humans
function.
cast out of their home world for ritual conga abuse they found
themselves lost in the midlands of the uk with no ticket home, no
friends and no hope. not ones to grumble they realised that their
only hope was to achieve national airplay of music in the hope
that faint signals might be picked up by a passing ship to take
them away from the grind of human existance.
mav found himself assimilated into the uk dance seen with ease,
touring with the the chart topping up yer ronson. from this tour
he was picked up by the world famous cream, where he has been
resident percussionist for the last four years, playin alongside
the worlds biggest djs (carl cox, fat boy slim and sasha to name
but a few). as a result of this, work has easily come his way and
and mav has found himself involved in projects such as top 40 act
tilt, deep house remixers desert (glow recordings), and
forthcoming punk-funk outfit late risers on paper recordings. he
has also recently performed on danny rampling╣s love groove dance
party show live from ibiza alongside czr feat. delano. other radio
one appearences include a live essential mix with nick warren and
roadshows with upr.
mavenalli started the grounbreaking espresso night in leicester
featuring such luminaries of uk cool such as ashley beedle, diy,
paper, nuphonic and ballistic brothers (in fact anything they
liked). out of this mavenalli started espresso studios, possibly
the finest studio this side of the road.
but first.... let me introduce you to alli.currently sound
techinician at passion, he has worked as a recording engineer,
live soundman, lighting man, teacher, and scientist (aids and
whooping cough research). shunned by humans for most of his life
he found solace as a session bass player, multi instrumentalist
and recording as half of mavenalli. mavenalli first teamed up in
the live music scene, and after espresso studios was born settled
down to the business of discovering what makes a great record
tick.
shutting themselves away in the studio and feeding themselves only
on fresh killed funk chicken they engrossed themselves in the
longest listening session in the history of human kind. searching
through the kind of collection that the world eclectic was waiting
for they found out the following: * latin was the original jump up
* deep house is more likely to be a state of mind * live music has
been wanting electronica roughly up the gary * if 99% of all music
is shit, why not make an album with the 1% that╣s any good using a
range of styles i.e. if enough shit gets thrown.... * easy
listening is not always that easy * the best studio pastime is
munching on scooby snacks watching george a romero boxed sets
(well, russ meyer to be honest). emerging from their enforced
seperation they found that the world had changed.
the world was ready. they had watched too much russ meyer. alli
was a scientist. they are both w+++++: blind science=sound now
fully ensconded in the real world they found that thay had bred
music born out of us, uk and french funky deep house, jazz, latin,
rare groove, funk, soul and easy listening. mmmm... nice.
