│ Ultrasonic is Fresh 4T4 and Uwe Teichert. │░
│ │░
│ 4T4 ( www.dj4t4.com for a detailed bio on him) has been doing many │░
│ different projects in as many different styles. Ultrasonic 7 is the │░
│ name used for the poppier dance productions, which will frequently │░
│ feature vocals by Tania Saw and/or Tom Derie, and will often have a │░
│ certain 70's or 80's retro-feel to it. DJ-sets are usually a lot │░
│ deeper and trancier, though, more like the material released simply │░
│ as Fresh 4T4. │░
│ │░
│ Live-set involves Kobe Proesmans (El Tattoo del Tigre, Zita Swoon, │░
│ Gabriel Rios, Obatala, ...) on percussion, Yves Fernandez on │░
│ trumpet, Mathias Van de Wiele (Moker, Proyecto Secreto,...) on │░
│ guitar and Yannick Uyttenhove on bass, and you might find us │░
│ combining dj-sets with some of these people. │░
│ The name Fresh 4T4 was conceived in 1987, and has no meaning, so │░
│ sorry to all you philosophical analysts who think it might be his │░
│ shoe-size (or any other size for that matter), his birthdate or │░
│ (surely not) the firearm. "DJ Kristof" just didn't have that │░
│ rockstar-ring to it. │░
│ │░
│ Uwe is best known for masterings and is usually responsible for the │░
│ technical side of the story, like the mix, the setup and choice of │░
│ instruments, and the finetuning, but also composes and plays some │░
│ keyboards. │░
│ │░
│ Ultrasonic 7 was born in the summer of 2000, when 4T4 finally │░
│ decided this hiphop-thing just wasn't doing it anymore and realised │░
│ there's a lot more space for him to venture out into dance-music, │░
│ which actually has a lot more of oldschool hiphop than what that has │░
│ become nowadays. A story told many times before, but very true │░
│ nevertheless. He had been friends with Uwe for a while, and both │░
│ really felt like working together would be a good idea, mostly │░
│ because they could focus solely on the creative sides they liked │░
│ best in this manner. Uwe has been in the scene for ages, with │░
│ releases on Planet Dog and others, but noticed he had concentrated │░
│ on the mere technicality of music production too much to be able to │░
│ maintain a general view on writing tracks. 4T, on the other hand, │░
│ could use somebody with his experience and technical knowledge. Most │░
│ importantly, collaborating seemed to bring out the best in both, on │░
│ the motivation- as well as on the creative side of the production │░
│ process. In the end it's never a bad idea to have someone to share │░
│ feedback with. They are based in Brussels. The label is self-owned │░
│ "Swet", in exclusive licence to PIAS benelux, and the publishing is │░
│ handled by EMI Music Publishing Belgium. │░
│ │░
│ The project name was originally just "Ultrasonic", but due to other │░
│ artists already using this name and a fresh start in spring 2004, │░
│ the 7 was added. │░
│ Influences reach from funk & disco such as Chic, Kool & the Gang or │░
│ Bohannon, over electro like Kraftwerk, Arthur Baker and the Soul │░
│ Sonic Force, early new wave (Yello, Art of Noise), eighties electro │░
│ pop and funk from the likes of such people as Jimmy Jam & Terry │░
│ Lewis, LA & Babyface αnd Vince Clarke, early Chicago, Detroit and │░
│ Italo-house (Kevin Saunderson, Carl Craig!) or newer San Francisco │░
│ tracks, etc. │░
│ │░
│ There's also a noticable tendency to get a lot of inspiration from │░
│ old science-fiction, fantasy and horror movies. "Alphaville" from │░
│ Jean-Luc Godard HAS to be mentioned here... │░
│ They love 808's, 303's, 606's, Linn drums, Fairlights, Fender │░
│ instruments and so on. What a surprise. │░

│ The new single is out already, cd-single and 12" (out somewhere in │░
│ May). "This Life" is what it's called, with slightly extended │░
│ version on vinyl in the form of beats for intro and outro, for │░
│ easy-mix purposes. Both formats feature an exclusive non-album track │░
│ called "A Small Blue Object", an instrumental mid-tempo funk jam │░
│ with samples of some MC hypnotist. │░
