Chicago veteran Joey Kay may have something of a scattered career, but he's
definitely getting back into the swing of things on the bumping
rabble-rouser "Toy Piano". It's all garage hats and sustained string notes,
the hats sizzling out into an eternity of top end, while the looped sample
relentlessly lolls around in the centre of the party. On the flipside of
this release for 124 Recordings, Washerman does a touch and functional job
of the remix duties, replacing jaunty house groove for po-faced techno
propulsion. The key melodic hook gets pitched down and the hats are usurped
for a piercing clap that cuts right through the mix
