│║ Somewhere in the universe bands like IRON ║ │
│║ SAVIOR, SHAMAN and TWILIGHTNING laid the grounds ║ │
│║ for VORPAL NOMAD. It was chosen to tell the ║ │
│║ story of the ôHyperboreaö. Now for those who ║ │
│║ don't know; In Greek mythologies the Hyperborean ║ │
│║ were a mythical people who lived far to the ║ │
│║ north of Thrace. The Greeks thought that Boreas, ║ │
│║ the North Wind, lived in Thrace, and that ║ │
│║ therefore Hyperborea was an unspecified region ║ │
│║ in the northern lands that lay beyond the north ║ │
│║ wind. Their land, called Hyperborea or ║ │
│║ Hyperboria -"beyond the Boreas" - was perfect, ║ │
│║ with the sun shining twenty-four hours a day, ║ │
│║ which - if true - suggests a possible location ║ │
│║ within the Arctic Circle which is what they ║ │
│║ basically talk about on the album. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ I put VORPAL NOMAD with the bands I've mentioned ║ │
│║ above because they all have an awesome Power ║ │
│║ Metal rhythm and nature even lyrically; Power ║ │
│║ Metal bands usually use mythologies or super ║ │
│║ natural elements and themes and you know what? I ║ │
│║ think that what makes Power Metal so great. ItÆs ║ │
│║ a story, and in this case it's a Greek history ║ │
│║ so why not? ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Instrumentally, I'm convinced with the story ║ │
│║ line, with the dΘcor. VORPAL NOMAD has managed ║ │
│║ to deliver here the concept by giving a great ║ │
│║ instrumental presence to each of the instruments ║ │
│║ exactly at the same time. I could have sworn ║ │
│║ that these guys just came from there and now ║ │
│║ they tell me about "Last Hero on Earth" and a ║ │
│║ place called "SkullIsland". However I have a ║ │
│║ huge problem with the sixth track "The Mad ║ │
│║ Hatter"; I'm sorry, it has nothing to do with ║ │
│║ the story line. It could have been nice if it ║ │
│║ was the bonus track but not as an actual track. ║ │
│║ The thing is that when VORPAL NOMAD had decided ║ │
│║ to put "The Mad Hatter" when the concept is ║ │
│║ ôHyperboreaö it kind of broke the story line. ║ │
│║ Not good basically. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Now, the credit goes to Felipe Machado Franco ║ │
│║ (Vocals) who did an amazing job with telling the ║ │
│║ story of ôHyperboreaö but not only that; the man ║ │
│║ has an incredible vocal range and power = ║ │
│║ suitable to a fine Power Metal band! ║ │
│║ ║ │
