"Hσkon Kornstad (saxes, flutes, programming), Per Zanussi (bass,
programming), Wetle Holte (drums, programming), Rune Br┐ndbo a.k.a.
Sternklang (live sound treatment).
Wibutee started off in Trondheim, Norway in 1996 with Hσkon, Per and
Wetle, three young jazz musicians wanting to combine electronic music
and contemporary jazz. The club scene was near its apex at that time
and DJs mixed jazz samples and new beats heartily to a modern and
fresh result. Jazz was really regaining its status as club music for
young people.
Joined by singer Live Maria Roggen and Fender Rhodes-player Erlend
Skomsvoll, Wibutee signed up for their first album 'Newborn Thing' on
Jazzland Recordings, a label recently formed by keyboard guru Bugge
Wesseltoft and his 'New Conceptions of Jazz'. 'Newborn Thing' really
established Wibutee as one of the freshest and most exciting bands on
the growing Norwegian electrojazz scene. Wibutee also did a chunky
bit of touring with this constellation (later joined by Gulleiv Wee
on live electronics) and played on numerous festivals in Norway and
Europe from 1998 through 2000.
In 2001 Hσkon, Per & Wetle decided to go instrumental again, now
joined by Rune Br°ndbo (a.k.a. Sternklang) a true player from the
Norwegian electronica scene. When all the kids gathered on rave
parties in empty factory buildings chewing on their glowsticks,
Sternklang was finishing his debut album 'Freestylespacefunk', a
loungy contribution to the Norwegian electronica discography. In 2001
he joined Wibutee in the production of their second album 'Eight
Domestic Challenges' and is now a regular member of the group.
The other guys aren't totally lost either; saxophonist Hσkon Kornstad
is really one of the most expressive voices in young Norwegian music
and has been the regular reedman in Bugge Wesseltoft's 'New
Conceptions of Jazz' for the last four years. The 'rhythm section',
Per Zanussi and Wetle Holte are bringing club beats into new
unexplored territory. 'Eight Domestic Challenges' was indeed a step
forward for Wibutee, programmed entirely by the group itself. You can

popular and interactive www.wibutee.net. Since the release, Wibutee
has been touring extensively in Europe, and their new live set is
more funky and fresh than ever.
For their live shows Wibutee is now collaborating with Norwegian
experimental design guru Amoeba (a.k.a. Marius Watz). Check out his
workspace at www.evolutionzone.com! Live video and live generated
animation will turn the coming Wibutee concerts into something
musical and visual."
