Orbital - The Girl With The Sun In Her Head.
It was with that one song that the life of trent roche was
forever altered. The year was 1998, and the majority of the
electronic world was hooked on the synth sounds of high
energy trance. Over the next several months, trent listened
to every genre of electronic music he could find, and in the
summer of 2000, purchased his own turntables and the
resulting continuous obsession
for buying records.
Going to University at the Georgia Institute of Technology
in Atlanta, Georgia, trent was exposed to the deep house
sounds of the south on an almost daily basis. This exposure,
coupled with frequent trips to the legendary clubs of Twilo
in New York City and Fabric in London, was an invaluable
asset to the development of trent's musical tastes. Back in
Atlanta, the clubbing scene was quickly picking up more
speed, which lended opportunities to interact with a
multitude of incredible talent on the dj front. However,
school had to be taken care of first, so up until his
graduation with a degree in Computer Science in August 2002,
trent spent his time on schoolwork and spent his money on
records, working on his mixing skills in his free time from
school, and playing the occasional house party.
Shortly after graduation, trent worked for a short period of
time for Yoshitoshi/Deep Dish Records in Washington DC. This
give him the opportunity to see the electronic music
industry from the inside, providing an alternative to the
workings of such a global phenomenon. Unfortunately, the job
was short lived, as economics dictated that trent find
another job. A fan of abstract photography and minimalism in
Architecture and Interior Design, it seems only natural that
the minimalist forms of electronic music would interest
trent. As his music tastes have shifted from progressive to
deep house to tech house and even minimal techno/electro, it
is fair to say that trent will be involved in the industry
for some time to come.
