Release Notes:
--------
Many people are "addicted" to their smart phones, thus nicknames like
crackberry, but who knew you could make rock music with the always-within-reach
iPhone?

A Montgomery man and some of his friends proved just that with the album "Start
the Show," which was released today.

One Like Son recorded the 11-track album while all in separate places. The
members used two apps, MultiTrack DAW and AmpKit, to record the different tracks
before mixing them together.

Stephen Poff of Montgomery provided lead vocals and mixed most of the songs. He
previously worked as a recording engineer at Mohawk Studios in New Orleans.

The 37-year-old said the record is a side project with Bill Rester and Perry
Brown and Brian Seagraves of the folk/Americana band Fire Mountain. Poff said
the quartet started recording Jan. 1, 2011 and the album was completed Dec. 31.

The band members were scattered in Montgomery, Troy, Picayune, Miss. and
Columbus, Ga., so getting together was hard. The guys recorded independently in
hotel rooms, bedrooms, school classrooms and anywhere they could bring an iPhone
and their instruments.

"Previous bands have done a song or two on a small scale or have done mainly
electronic music. But what we've done is much different than that, music that
you wouldn't imagine could be recorded this way," Poff said.

One Like Sun draws influences from bands like Teenage Fanclub, Fountains of
Wayne and Green Day.

"We're sort of fast and loud, but we're not quite pop punk," Poff said.

The project started off small, Poff said.

"At first it was just a little thing that we could do for the year. But after we
saw how great the songs were turning out, we decided we needed to try to do
something with it and put together a real record," Poff said.
