UK techno/house-soul veteran Steve Pickton aka Stasis aka Soul 223 winds up on
London's Boe Recordings with a classy 6-track EP including two vinyl-only cuts.
The enduring longevity of his catalogue owes much to his roots in soul-fuelled
music, which shines through here. A-side, 'Age Of Peace' shuffles and swings
with a debonaire Detroit elegance and 'Wide Open Spaces' applies a dubbier
sensibility to hypnotic chord sequence and a powerful bass heft that'll really
cut across on a big rig. B-side his 'Hand In Hand' groove chugs with a more
mature Balearic/Japanese flair, and the hollering samples and rolling conga of
'In Motion' is there for the movers.
