▐█ The journey for the Chicago rapper MARZ has been a long and █▌
▐█ winding road. It started in a two-room dirt floor shack in the █▌
▐█ hills of Croatia, from the poverty of this humble village life █▌
▐█ with no electricity or running water, to a mansion off Hollywood █▌
▐█ Blvd and back to the streets of Chicago. MARZ has been able to █▌
▐█ maintain his love of the journey and not the destination. █▌
▐█ MARZ born Zlatko Hukic arrived in the West Side of Chicago aged █▌
▐█ eight. His family moved there from Croatia under a cloud of █▌
▐█ suspicion due to a bar fight his father was involved in where █▌
▐█ someone was stabbed. This and other happenings including a █▌
▐█ felony arms smuggling charge for the transport of guns to his █▌
▐█ village during the Bosnian war, numerous counts of assault █▌
▐█ against the public and the police, and the shooting up of their █▌
▐█ own house, all have led to a strained relationship between MARZ █▌
▐█ and his father. █▌
▐█ "I love my pops even though he was hard to love sometimes" █▌
▐█ This helped MARZ immerse himself into the many hours a day he █▌
▐█ would practice guitar, writing lyrics and recording with friends █▌
▐█ in a studio he built in his garage, with the money he got from █▌
▐█ delivering mood enhancers. █▌
▐█ With bands like Slayer, DRI, and Metalica influencing his guitar █▌
▐█ style, rappers like Tupac, Chuck D from Public Enemy and LL Cool █▌
▐█ J influencing his vocal approach, books ranging from Carlos █▌
▐█ Castaneda, Alister Crawly to Anthony Robbins molding his mental █▌
▐█ state and the lessons learned from Gang Bangers, drug dealing, █▌
▐█ High School race riots, and fighting in Kung Fu tournaments all █▌
▐█ led to his irreverence for life which is mirrored in his music █▌
▐█ and lyrics. Leaving his teen years behind him he decided gang █▌
▐█ banging was too small a vision for him and aggressively began █▌
▐█ pursuing a career in music. An internship at Chicago Tracks █▌
▐█ Studios led to a chance meeting with Al Jorgensen of Ministry. █▌
▐█ "Me and Al just clicked he asked me to engineer the Filth Pig █▌
▐█ album after talking to him for about 5 minutes. I wasnt an █▌
▐█ engineer but I said Id do it, that night I went out and bought a █▌
▐█ book on engineering." MARZ ended up recording and playing guitar █▌
▐█ on Filth Pig and Dark Side Of The Spoon. Although he loved █▌
▐█ Ministry he knew his true calling was to be on the mic. █▌
▐█ The eclectic list of artists MARZ has helped produce and write █▌
▐█ with goes from Detroit rappers Insane Clown Posse, who MARZ █▌
▐█ toured and recorded the Dark Lotus album with to international █▌
▐█ crooner Peter Gabriel. While in England working with Peter MARZ █▌
▐█ met Robert Hill who would end up being the co-producer and █▌
▐█ engineer for the albums ôLung Fu Mo Sheö released on Imagine █▌
▐█ Music and most recently ô Gorilla Pimpinö. █▌
▐█ In Feb of 2002 he inked a record deal on Elementree Records. █▌
▐█ Korn front man Jonathon DavisÆs fledgling label, and recorded █▌
▐█ ôGorilla Pimpinö. With the re-worked Ted Nugent song Strangle █▌
▐█ Hold (personally approved by Ted), collaboration with Swiss █▌
▐█ Beats and Jonathan Davis executive produceding the album, █▌
▐█ ôGorilla Pimpinö is amongst many things diverse in the extreme. █▌
▐█ And in his sophomore record MARZ has once again produced and █▌
▐█ very unique and original piece of work. █▌
▐█ From the studio MARZ went on the Pop Sux Tour with Korn and █▌
▐█ Trust Company, however after numerous battles with the mother █▌
▐█ label Geffen over creative freedom they came to a mutual █▌
