Flapper as one called in the 1920s, young women who had a
term for this downright provocative self-consciousness. They
drank, smoked, preferred short skirts and short hair,
listened to jazz with passion, danced the Charleston and sat
boldly across conventions. The young Cologne singer Alice
Francis pays that era on their debut album "St. James
Ballroom "musical and visual tribute. She has these women as
a model and calls therefore winking also Miss Flapperty -
the nickname is a contraction of the words Flapper and
Liberty.
A prime example of their not so old-fashioned impudence
which now appears first single is "Shoot Him Down". The
smart play could carry an allusion to a Paul Simon classic
good subtitled "Fifty Ways To Kill Your Lover". Because in
the song about a man who broke her heart, says among other
things: "I want to choke him, want to maltreat him, I want
to squeeze him and break his neck, neck, neck ..." Before
she then the chorus says: "you know that I will soon take a
gun, a gun to shoot him down." From the needle with which
she would poke him to death, not to mention.
All these bloodthirsty threats Alice Francis has musically
but packed so fresh that one of the song has simply
overjoyed. Your music producer Goldielocks often peppered
with cartoon-esque samples, or by more contemporary beats,
he is a modern touches designated the singer herself as a
neo-Charleston. The album "St. James Ballroom "on the Alice
Francis the sound of the roaring twenties style with
21st-Century combined, will be published in September. And
it would not be too surprising if in Germany and Europe
begins a new Charleston fever.
