│║ Long before David Coverdale adopted the BIG hair ║ │
│║ and the very commercial US-style Heavy Metal ║ │
│║ that brought the 1987 WHITESNAKE vast fame and ║ │
│║ fortune he was the front man for a classy bluesy ║ │
│║ hard rockin' band that couldn't have been more ║ │
│║ different than the MTV darlings of the late ║ │
│║ 80's. ║ │
│║ "Live In The Heartà" was recorded over two dates ║ │
│║ in 1980 and one date in 1978 and from the much ║ │
│║ missed Hammersmith Odeon. Although WHITESNAKE ║ │
│║ never achieved the sales figures of Coverdale's ║ │
│║ previous band, DEEP PURPLE, this is still a ║ │
│║ class live-album and sits up there amongst ║ │
│║ AC/DC's "If You Want Blood", The PRIEST's ║ │
│║ "Unleashed In The East" and LIZZY's "Live And ║ │
│║ Dangerous" as high points of live Heavy Rock- ║ │
│║ albums in the late 70' and early 80's.v ║ │
│║ Featuring some quite excellent musicianship from ║ │
│║ guitarists Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody and ║ │
│║ the exceptional vocal talents of Coverdale every ║ │
│║ single song on this live-CD is a slab of good ║ │
│║ time Rock'n'Roll with a whole load of Boogie ║ │
│║ thrown in. Opener "Come On" just has an ║ │
│║ infectious riff and great chorus that sets the ║ │
│║ show off perfectly. From then on this really is ║ │
│║ a master class on delivering quality Blues-based ║ │
│║ Hard Rock from "Walking In The Shadow Of The ║ │
│║ Blues" to the raucous UK Top-10 smash "Fool For ║ │
│║ Your Loving" - boy can Coverdale write a chorus! ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ For me the real start of the show is the voice ║ │
│║ of Coverdale, along with Paul Rodgers, Robert ║ │
│║ Plant and Ian Gillan the UK has been gifted the ║ │
│║ world's best Rock'n'Roll-singers. If you don't ║ │
│║ believe me then listen to "Ain't Gonna Cry No ║ │
│║ More" and "Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The ║ │
│║ City". Tell me of a better live singer and I ║ │
│║ will eat my hat!!!! ║ │

│║ Even for an album recorded over twenty years ago ║ │
│║ this is still fresh and vibrant and if your ║ │
│║ looking for a departure from the Nu-Metal- ║ │
│║ madness that pervades every facet of Hard Rock ║ │
