Leeds-based producer Last Magpie swings between stepping, technoid garage and
blue-tinged grooves for Hypercolour. '1995' whips out the skanking dub chords
and soundsystem FX on a rocksteady sub, rolled up with neat breakdown and
swirly pads, and 'Roots' keeps the party burning with warpers bass and a
squashed mix of deep house and Bassline dynamics. For the moody crew there's
also the dusted, Burial-esque reese bass and woodblock swing of 'Hypno' and
'Fallen'.
