41░30'n 88░30'e (41 degrees, 30 minutes north and 88 degrees, 30
minutes east): note these coordinates - not for the next vacation
trip however, but for a journey of completely different kind! if
you open your atlas you won┤t find anything inviting at this place
but a salt sea in the middle of the desert gobi: lop nor. "in such
a scanty place the variety of small individual details is so
overwhelming, that again a homogeneous surface results. the whole
place rests in itself and the reduction on the substantial allows
the spirit to be free." helmut neugebauer, saxophonist, producer
and sound artist has been invovled in the electronic music scene
since the early 80ies. with his internationally recognized project
"die v÷gel europas" he anticipated many aspects that should
determine the course of the music in the eclectic no man's land
between jazz, pop and electronic music from the nineties until
today. intensively exploring the world of drum┤n┤bass in the
following years he found a completely different and inspiring
approach to jazz. lop nor is helmut neugebauer┤s vision of a
possible future of jazz and electronic music, his very personal
version of nu-jazz. guest artists on this album include roland
punzenberger (drums), thomas berghammer (fluegelhorn, trumpet),
guida de palma (vocals), windi gruber (vocals) and marco hebga
(vocals).
